March

Each month we highlight an artist that we represent. Touching upon their technique, approach, and style we focus on their unique abilities. Our goal is to promote local talent and to highlight the diversity in each of the artists we represent.

We would like to introduce you to our March Featured Artist Carlisle

CARLISLE

Artist’s Statement

I am an abstract painter. Simply said, I paint what i feel not what I see. It needs to be raw, never before seen, and completely original in thought. When looking at something for the very first time, as is the case with abstract art, we get to add body to our cognitive, visual and emotional collection. “Abstract creates an experience never before seen and never to be seen the same again.”

Biography
Carlisle has lived in Utah, Arizona and New York. She studied art at the University of Utah and Parson’s School of Design. She takes enormous pleasure in traveling, being able to take personal part in other peoples lives and their cultures, spend time in as many museums as possible and to simply absorb as much as she can that is out there… increasing her appreciation and passion for all of art.

February

We would like to introduce you to our February Featured Artist Angela Woods.

ANGELA WOODS

Artist’s Statement

I hope to convey a personal connection within the spaces through which we travel, which are often more important and interesting than the destinations. The human condition and the places we dwell are fascinating to me. My hope is to translate that feeling and let it drive me to create my current works.

We move so fast. I hope to evoke a lasting memory of the places we move through.

Biography
Angela Woods was born in San Francisco and grew up in Southern California, which has influenced her work in a variety of urban settings. Angela has been an illustrator for twenty years. Her work can be seen in best-selling children’s books, advertising, and private collections. Angela has a degree in visual art and design, with an emphasis in illustration and animation. Her wide scope of training includes personal instruction from lead animators at the Walt Disney Company, as well as top artists in the southwest. She draws from both experiences in her paintings.

Angela has won numerous awards. Her work is increasingly sought after and collected, and has been displayed at numerous galleries and juried competitions. Angela continues her education, studying with notable artists in workshops and private academies on a continuous basis.

Jeff Pugh

Jeff Pugh | Just Plowed - $9995

“Art has always dominated the direction of my life. I remember that when I was very young, I would go to my grandmothers and paint little watercolors with her as she painted. Even then, I remember learning the importance of seeing. This has just continued through my life and has helped me learn and grow. It has filtered the way that I view my surroundings. I no longer ignore the beauty of the landscape. It isn’t just dirt and trees and sky. It is a compound of colors and values and shapes. As I continue to paint, I realize that I am just beginning to scratch this surface. It has intrigued me and so I continue to paint in hopes to discover even more.”

Jeff graduated from the University of Utah in 2004 with a Degree in Painting and Drawing. During this time, he has been showing his work throughout Utah and his work has been collected nationally. He has been able to take advantage of several opportunities to study with John Erickson and Gary E. Smith, both of which have helped diversify and enrich his work.

Jeff lives in Holladay, Utah with his wife Julia and daughter Remlee. Julia recently graduated from the University of Utah as well with a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance.

Cassandria Parsons

Cassandria Parsons

Cassandria was born in Canton, China.  On her first Birthday, as was the custom, she was presented with a tray of common objects.  It was believed that the items she selected would tell her parents the direction of her life. She reached for a bamboo brush, which meant she was destined for a life bound to painting or writing. Throughout her life she has nurtured her ambition to become a serious painter. She has earned a BFA at the University of Utah, studying with Paul Davis who has been an important influence. Over the years, she has grown to love the Utah landscape which was vastly different from the country of her youth. She has a home in Spring City where she finds inspiration in the open landscape. Cassandria was awarded honorable mention in the most recent Deseret News Landscape Show.
