For me, art has always been an outlet for expression. I try to create images that reflect who or what I am and what I want to be. The dynamics of that vision is where I am at in a particular time and place. Lately in my art I have been focusing on texture and how I can express emotion in more abstract images. I find my brain calculating all kinds of patterns and images that create movement, emotion, and theatricality. Through my studies at Weber State University I am continually challenging mind in all fields of art, in classes such as photography, drawing and graphic design. I truly believe that as a student I have learned more about my personal work and myself as an artist.
I was intrigued by the idea of this exhibition especially because of the time limitation. We were given one hour on the first day of the New Year. I chose 3 a.m. I wanted to challenge myself and wanted to come up with an interesting night shot. This is why I picked the location in the alleyway. I have always had a love for graffiti and thought that it was a perfect subject to try and photograph in this piece.
