Nico draws from a wide variety of experiences to create his art. His passion for traveling and the outdoors has led him into challenging situations around the world and in a variety of cultures – from documenting the behavior of endangered mountain gorillas in the Congo to balancing precariously above the terraced hillsides of Machu Picchu for the perfect sweeping panoramic image – he does what it takes to get the shot. His experiences and successes interacting with cultures varying from Serbian to Brazilian and Cambodian to Tanzanian provide a strong foundation and understanding for communication beyond the realm of language.
“My passion for photography has brought me to many out-of-the-way places and introduced me to quite a few interesting individuals. Challenging situations often arise, from language barriers to atmospheric light, to precarious shooting locations. Experiencing the combinations of these factors has increased my comfort zone. The beauty captured in my landscapes are directly correlated to effort in the field. When I’m out there in the middle of it all, I feel a certain focus and peace of mind that anchors me to that moment in time. I am excited to be able to share these moments with you, and hopefully inspire you to seek moments and adventures of your own, and to live deliberately.”
I am a Utah-based landscape photographer. Since moving west from Michigan in 2005, I thoroughly enjoy exploring the mountain west and consider it my home. These photos are a visual depiction of my wanderings through the mountains, deserts and other inspiring places.
I believe in protecting wild spaces for all to enjoy. Travels thus far have taken me around the western states, Canada, Patagonia and Ireland.
The images are actual photographs with minimal Photoshop applied (no HDR composite images or ones with different sky dropped in).
Enough about me, go enjoy the photographs!
